Candidate for The Buckenhams & Banham:
Jan PRIOR
I live with my husband in New Buckenham. We moved from Kent in 2016 to enjoy
the culture, countryside and community of Norfolk and very soon felt completely
at home here.
I joined the Green Party in 2011 to support a party which echoed my own values
and which wants to see a different type of politics, and stood as a Green Party
candidate in local elections in Kent in 2015.
My work has been in the NHS as a Clinical Psychologist and latterly as Chief
Executive of a charity providing for those with complex mental and physical
health challenges. I have seen the impact of austerity at close quarters and
am deeply troubled by the continuing weakening of our public services. I am
passionate about environmental issues and addressing inequalities and believe
we are stronger when working together for the common good.
If elected I would work to strengthen local public services, develop options
for public transport as a realistic means of transport for rural communities
and bring a different perspective to discussions at Breckland.
I am involved in village life in various ways, sing in a local choir and enjoy
working in our garden and on an allotment shared with neighbours. We are regular
visitors to neighbouring towns and to Norwich for cultural events.
I am standing in The Buckenhams and Banham to provide a alternative choice for
voters beyond the two main parties. A vote for the Green Party is a positive
vote for change.
